Our Programs
HIV and AIDS
- Successfully raised awareness on PMTCT couple support and antenatal care among the apostolic sects in Mberengwa and Zvishavane districts and this resulted in increased sect members utilising services. Male sect members volunteered to be PMTCT champions.
- Established the community referral network in Mberengwa and Zvishavane districts through the mHealth enabled health facilities to reach clients on appointment in the catchment area on time and subsequently lead to effective follow up of clients due for review.
- Created demand for integrated health services for pregnant and lactating women and their infants in 12 districts of Zimbabwe resulting in increased uptake of PMTCT, family planning and sexual reproductive health services.
- Established male involvement dialogue platforms resulting in 3000 men opting for voluntary counseling and testing
- Delivered quality HIV and AIDS treatment and care services through the provision of doctors’ reviews at local health facilities. The reviews improved treatment adherence services as well as diagnosis of opportunistic infections.
- Established 50 kids clubs in schools and capacitated 1500 club members with life skills.
TB
Trained community structures on DOTS Strategy Implementation as well as DOTS monitoring. This strengthened linkages between health facilities and clients on treatment because the DOTS Observers make follow ups to clients on review appointments as well as loss to follow up tracking. This reduced treatment defaulting and improved TB treatment outcomes at local at local health facilities.
Food security
The intervention managed to reach vulnerable households with 70% constituting women. 5020 households were reached with agriculture inputs, conservation agriculture, livestock fairs and market garden linkages interventions. The interventions enabled farmers to improve their yields, improve asset ownership and improved access to market by farmers to sale their produce.
Key Populations
Reached 2800 mobile population with HIV prevention, treatment and support interventions. The mobile populations include truck drivers, sex workers and cross borders. This resulted in sexual behaviour change among the key populations with drivers and sex workers accessing condoms, HIV testing and counseling.
Market Linkages
Trained 105 farmers on market linkages and established 11 information collection centre hubs for farmers to exhibit and sale their produce. Household income levels for participating farmers improved remarkably.
Community Volunteering
Conducted volunteer recognition platforms such as International Volunteers Day and advocacy meetings. Established a rainbow district volunteer committee that spearheads volunteer rights awareness raising.
