Organization

Midlands AIDS Caring Organisation is a legally registered private voluntary organisation operating in the Midlands province of Zimbabwe.

The organisation was founded on the premise of responding to shocks particularly the HIV & AIDS pandemic and drought that severely affected the social and economic lives of communities in most parts of Zimbabwe. The community based and driven organisation is governed by a board which was appointed on gender and commitment merit. Midlands AIDS Caring Organisation’s operations is influenced by policy and a robust strategic plan that defines the organisation’s work. During the past three years the board has managed to put in place policies that promote accountability, safeguarding and financial regulation and this has led to improved governance of the organisation.

The strategic focus of the organisation is gender justice, women economic empowerment, livelihoods, HIV & AIDS targeting at risk groups such sex workers, orphaned and vulnerable children, and food security. In the identified strategic areas above, the organisation has worked extensively with renowned international, regional and local partners such as Oxfam GB, Positive Action, Southern Africa AIDS Trust(SAT) SAfAIDS and Care International. The table below summarises the partnerships that the organisation engaged over the years.
